About Salt

We put the story first, because the story is what makes everything else work.

Marketing should make selling easier.

Why Salt exists

Most business owners we meet are doing genuinely great work. But when you ask them to explain what they do, the words don’t quite land. The marketing is busy, but it’s not strategic, and what should be a clear, confident brand keeps getting stuck in random acts of marketing that never add up to growth.

That’s the gap Salt was built to close. We skip the jargon, the overwhelm, and the “let’s try this and hope it works” approach. We find your story, sharpen your message, and build marketing that actually moves people.

How we do it
Our core values

The elements of Salt

Salt is two simple elements that change everything they touch. These are Salt Collective’s.

  1. Clear

If you confuse, you lose. So before we write a word or shoot a frame, we get to the core of what you do, who it's for, and why it matters. That kind of clarity respects your audience enough to meet them where they are.

  2. Creative

Strategy without creativity is a spreadsheet, and creativity without strategy is a mood board. We pair the two, so your brand comes out intentional and as specific as your business is.

  3. Empowering

We're not here to make you dependent on us. We hand you a brand, a message, and a strategy you understand and feel confident using on your own, and we measure our success by how capable you feel when we're done.

  4. Thoughtful

We slow down before we move fast, ask the question behind the question, and consider what your customer is actually feeling. In an industry obsessed with speed, the care we bring is what shows up in the work.

Why Salt?

People ask us where the name came from, and the answer goes right back to the qualities of salt itself.

Salt is gritty.

Anyone who's built or run a business knows what grit feels like. It's the texture of every late night and every decision to keep going when the easy answer would have been to give up, and it's one of our favorite qualities to find in the business owners we work with.

Salt adds flavor.

A pinch of salt brings out everything already in the food, and the right story brings out everything already in your business. Our work is to surface what's already there so your customer can see it clearly.

Salt is valuable.

Salt was traded as currency throughout history, and a clear, confident brand is the closest thing a modern business has to that kind of currency. You earned every bit of that worth, and we're here to help the world catch up to it.

Salt and light.

There's a verse in the Bible about being salt and light in the world: to shine a light on good works and have a positive, preserving influence. It's an important part of all of us in our work and in our personal lives.

Meet your guides

We’re three women with different strengths and one shared standard: every client leaves clearer, more confident, and a little lighter than when they walked in.

Holly Hepp

Founder & CEO

Holly is the strategic mind behind Salt. She holds a Business Administration degree from Colorado State University and spent thirteen years in business development in midstream oil and gas, managing the contracts and relationships that grew territories and protected company value. She learned that growth is never just about the deal in front of you: It's about understanding what a business is worth and how to make people see it. After seven years at home raising her four kids, she brought her business instinct to Salt: She knows what it takes to grow a company because she spent her career doing it. Clients describe working with Holly as finally being asked the right questions.

Angel Hepp

Founder & COO

Angel came up through hospitality and large-scale events, including four and a half years at The Ritz-Carlton in Denver and four years in event production with credits that include the Super Bowl. She understands that the difference between a good experience and a great one lives in the details no one sees. At Salt, she's built the process that keeps every engagement thoughtful, attentive, and genuinely well looked after. The parts that are hardest to systematize are the ones she cares most about getting right. Clients describe working with Angel as watching the fog lift, one well-placed metaphor at a time.

Where I do my best thinking
When I’m watering my flower garden.
Vacation that actually recharges me
Somewhere I can sleep in, read for hours, and eat really well.
The small habit that changed how I work
Switching between sitting and standing. It sounds minor. It isn’t.
Order at the coffee shop
Hot English Breakfast tea with steamed oat milk. Not coffee, at the coffee shop. Go figure.

Dana Martin

Founder & CCO

Dana is the eye behind Salt's creative work. She earned her degree from Arizona State University, and while home with her three children, she taught herself photography and eventually built a business from the ground up. Having been the business owner figuring out her own marketing, she brings hard-won perspective to every brand she touches, and she has a way of making a photo shoot feel like a long lunch with old friends. Clients describe working with Dana as a surprisingly deep conversation about what their brand really means, with a few good giggles along the way.
